As many of you may remember, ZONK ARTS Gallery, at 622 South 5th Street, just off of South Street, was my “child”, my “baby” and when I had to close in 2005 I was pretty devastated, but had to move on… Since then I had been struggling to get back to business, and rebuilding ZONK ARTS…working in non-profit, moving to Chicago, coming back, working at PASSIONAL…all the time neglecting my innate need to CREATE! And be PRODUCTIVE as an artist, fashion designer, musician, performance artist… At last, in 2013, with the New Year, I really can’t even put into words the level of productivity and energy that has been moving through me…in a sense, all the past several years of not producing have created a beast in me to pump stuff out, drawings, fashions, etc…mostly these two things…
NOW since being back in the game, in the thick of it, consigning my fashions at IMPACT Boutique (644 South Street) there is a demand for my fashions, and I WANT TO MEET THAT DEMAND, and EXCEED that demand! So please take some time to think about donating to my cause, a dollar makes a difference! Just to make you aware of what a dollar can do, it’s a garment (jeans, shirts, skirts, dresses) from the DOLLAR RACK & ROOM @ PHILLY AIDS Thrift, that gets upcycled into a fabulous ZiNk’D or TOXIC Fashion by ZONK! BIG LOVE!!!!
Gosh, well, I’ve been really busy with life, since my last post, in February, ugh! BUT, good things are happening… ZONK ARTS Productions has been officially resurrected from a shallow grave, LOL!!! We were out at OUTFest, back on Sunday, October 7th, making our first public appearance at an event, even though it was a cold, damp, dreary, gray day! But nonetheless, you know how the saying goes, there’s only up from here!
I am currently working on an Etsy store, so stay tuned! Getting a bunch of Fashions for SALE up on there, that went unsold at OUTFest, because of the poor turn out due to the inclement weather!
Featured at the ZONKARTS booth were local glass artist, Kort Walsh, painter Barbara Gesshel, and digital artist, Mark Messina! ZONK ARTS Productions is alive! So stay tuned!
These shots came from my totally low res camera phone, but were run through an app on my iPad, and now look like great pieces of art, lol… Enjoy!
These digitally manipulated images were shot by my fantastic friend Caitlyn Ryan (www.caitlynryanphoto.com), the mission was to produce an image to be rendered down for a lapel pin for an annual Philadelphia Fetish Ball, The Libertine Ball 2006, the theme was Paradise Lost (Heaven & Hell) and the concept for the shoot was Angels & Demons, where half my face/head was angelic in style and the other half was diabolical. Caitlyn’s images were so inspiring I put them through photoshop and created more than a dozen images, using a bunch of filters, techniques and styles. These are my favorites from that series.
Some past works of Graphic Design (for ASIAC’s JADED Lounge, Westminster Choir College – Dr. James Jordan, ZONK Arts Gallery, etc…)
This series represents a huge part of me which cannot be put into words right now, but I will follow up with a synopsis of these 3-dimensional wall hangings from 2001-2002.
